Shadow a Complete FITP

Overview

To receive this check box, a Trainer must while accompanying a qualified Trainer Level 4 shadow a full Level I Instructor Course from start to finish. This is an essential part of the Trainer Level IV process to ensure that the new Trainer is familiar with and understands the entire training curriculum for the FITP.

Pre-requisites

Prior to shadowing a Level I Instructor Course, a Trainer Candidate must have successfully completed all of the requirements and be a signed off Trainer Level 2 and be recommended by another Trainer Level 4.

Objectives

The primary objective for this skill is for you to learn each specific aspect of the Level I Instructor Course from the Trainers perspective. This first course that you will be a part of is a chance for you to emerse yourself in to the material and become familiar with the briefings for each skill that is taught during the course. There may be an opportunity for you to practice some of the basic flying scenarios to the instructor candidates but likely the majority of your time will be spent watching and listening. Once you have completed this course shadowing, you should be familiar with the course material and the layout of the program.

Preparation

Being an active Level 4 Instructor and being actively involved in some of the out of tunnel, initial and upgrade training for the tunnel staff will prepare you in working down the trainer path which will allow you to start working on assisting the Level 1 Instructor Courses with another Trainer Level 4.

The IBA distinguishes between the sport of indoor skydiving (engaged in by patrons with IBA accounts seeking approval of flight skills though the IBA's Flight Progression System) and recreational flying (engaged in by entertainment customers who do not intend to pursue approval of skills). While indoor skydiving is safe for all ages, the inherent risk of the activity is necessarily greater for those engaging in the sport of indoor skydiving, particularly as they progress through more sophisticated maneuvers.
